The minister of state for education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has disclosed that there are plans to soon reopen schools nationwide, however it won't happen in two weeks as being speculated in some quarters.

Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba made this disclosure on Thursday during the daily briefing of presidential task force on COVID-19.

Chukwuemeka said , there is no specific date for resumption of schools yet, he added that schools will be reopened after they are “resourced properly” .

“ We are seriously interested in reopening of schools and I believe we will do that soon. But I can't confirm the resumption of schools in two weeks”, He said. The issue of reopening of schools has nothing to do with availability of the schools or not. This has to do with national governance.

He added, when we determine, I'm sure you have seen all the experts here, that there's the measures of safety to which we can expose our children, we will gladly do that. We are watching and working with all bodies within and outside the country.

Recently I met with the ministry of science and technology .we are looking at putting a system in place that can disinfect a child as he goes to school and disinfect him as he goes out.

In conclusion, no date has been set up by the Nigerian Government for resumption of schools, So don't be moved by rumours that is spreading on social media.

#STAYSAFE.
